Comment:
My first mix of 2008 with hopefully many more to come this year. This is my fourth mix of 2007 releases as I sort through what really got my attention the past year. Two bands here are repeated from the previous mixes, Besnard Lakes and Oakley Hall, and they were two albums I kept going back to over and over during the year. Actually I picked up three Oakley Halls albums and two Besnard Lake albums so I listened to those bands a lot. I also kept going back to the Maps and Winterpills albums. I discovered King Khan this year and grabbed a few older albums. Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Spoon, BRMC, Shins and Wilco continued to please. Life On Earth was a great find as was Birdie Busch. Heck, I like all this stuff but there's more to come.Feedback:
...and I'm gonna' get ME some too, Metaman...

The Besnard Lakes, Keren Ann, Arcade Fire and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club are the standout for me.
Looks good to me! King Khan & the Shrines are among my favorite new discoveries.
6, 7, 8, 13, 15, & 19 were all big with me this past year - looks like a really great round-up
Lots of nice ones here: Broken West, Shins, Spoon, etc.
I'm looking forward to the Ponys, nice sampler overall.
Lots of the groups that i need to check out. thanks!
Cool mix, george. I love the Life on Earth and David Vandervelde (that song originally opened my best of '07 mix, but wound up being cut on the third or fourth draft) cuts. I also dig the Shins, Radiohead, Wilco, Hammond (which was released in 2006--see my best of '06 mix at http://www.artofthemix.org/FindAMix/getcontents.asp?strMixID=108961) and Broken West tracks.
Rob, you must've gotten one of those early pre-release copies of the Hammond CD to have it in 06. My CD has a 2007 date on the cover and the official release was in March.
I've seen a lot more albums showing up on the net in blogs and whatnot many months before actual releases. Sometimes I'll see something that a blog has to download and go to Amazon for more info where they may have it only for pre-order. Advance promo copies have always been part of the industry but they seem to be so much more widely distributed these days. And of course some artist are actually putting up advance copies on their websites first.
Also I just couldn't really come up with a single best of 2007 mix. I've been making a bunch of mixes featuring music from the year and giving them to some friends and relatives.

The Besnard Lakes are awesome! Great mix!
A great summary of a pretty fine year, George. Loved the Shins, Wilco and AF albums. Happy to see Winterpills, Besnard Lakes and Maps making an appearance also..
Great picks here. Especially digging that 13 to 18 stretch... and especially that 16-17 pairing.
Thanks for making this mix available, it was very educational to me. You mixed this so well that at times it was hard to tell where one song ended and the next one began. Maybe that's the reason I think that a lot of them sound kind of similar. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course...
