the 2007 El Gallito Mexican Restaurant Legends of the Ancient Americas Calendar Mixtape Series goes on. April. my goal was to create a mix that would help the listener feel as relaxed and tranquil as the beautiful woman in the picture, but while still remaining fully-clothed. then I learned from the legend that the woman pictured is actually a princess named Mixtli and she's dead. that's not at all what I was going for, and my apologies in advance if anyone slips into that condition while listening. several by Arthur Lyman here (one of my favorites) and I stand by each and every one of my Julio tracks! ;) all songs were recorded from old vinyl LPs. listen to sideone.

Hey, that looks like Mixtli, the girl that I met in a bar on Reforma. She called me hijo de chingada gabacho which apparently is quite a term of endearment in Mexico.

Okay, no more slams on the gachupfn, but the music did eerily remind me of coffee at Sanborn's. Nice for that bit of sentimentality, and it is relaxing, maybe a bit too relaxing. As always kudos on the vinyl to digital rip.

Felt tranquil listening to this at work... probably a little too much! Liking the Sergio Mendes track and always like hearing some Doris Day. Also really liked the Leo Diamond, Kokee Band and Talya Ferro selections.
