Comment:
My first posting for quite a while. This one is for a dinner party a friend is doing with North African food. This is music from the broader "Arabian/Islam" world. It includes North Africa (sometimes via European diaspora) including Mali & Mauritania, Moorish (Ojos de Brujo), Yemeni (Ofra) and Uzbecki. An interesting note is the Rachid has said that he gave the idea for Rock the Casbah to Joe Strummer and just recorded his version last year. This is more accessible Arabian music to western ears (including my own) than some other styles. Probably a second edition a bit. That is me on the last camel.
Feedback:
This looks ripe for a trade, I have the first song, but none of the others.
This looks fascinating. The only track I have is the Rachid Taha, who I have just recently become interested in. Would love to hear the rest of the mix.
impressive!
only familiar with DJ Cheb I Sabbah, Ofra Haza and then a few others just by name... would love to hear this too. bet it goes great with the meal--and it's nice to see you back... on a camel. and here at AotM too, of course.
Looks wonderful, very curious about the last track!
Hey, welcome back. There are actually 2 artists here that I have included on mixes as well - Amr Diab and Ofra Haza. Looks like good stuff. Get on your camel and ride.
This is absolutely wonderful. Perfect for a North African dinner engagement.
I love your opener and closer (the latter thanks to SwankQueen), but must confess to being unfamiliar with the rest. Good to see you back.
