Comment:

I was left with a distinct feeling of dissatisfaction after the recent Coen Brothers offering.
Whether it was the Agnes character of the underdeveloped Carson Wells character, or both, I can't say.
A typical Coen flawed masterpiece, much like one of Dylan's 70s albums. And I would not replace the ambient music used with a soundtrack. However, as I'm reading the Cormac McCarthy book, these songs popped out at me as scene-appropriate throughout the film. I falied to mention that I mainly made this mix because I saw the flick by myself and have been jonesing to talk about it with somebody.

I'm not sure if T-Bone would have used two of his own, but doowad did. Hey, and Rob is right, actually the Ry will work better as the denouement by itself, plus I thought I had better add some of that nice Carter Burwell score in there...
The challenge here was to create a balance between what sounds properly together and what matches the story flow mßs o menos.

Hey kid, you think that's oil? Man, that ain't oil that's blood

I can definitely see this fitting in well with the movie and it's a fine, fine mix, to boot. My only (very minor) gripe would be that using Jeff's version of "Hallelujah" (which happens to be my third or fourth-favorite version) for the elegiac, ambivalent ending is becoming a bit of a cliche in Hollywood, television and on mixes....

I was a touch more fulfilled with the movie than you appear to have been Derek. This looks really cool though. Love that Alejandro Escovedo track.

Loved the book but haven't seen the movie. Good to see Calexico here, as they are major Cormac McCarthy fans.

The first thing that went through my head was "Ohhhh, fuck yeah!". So there you go. Especially that opener, the Calexico/Iron & Wine, the Cash, Emmylou... so much good stuff here.

Flaws noted aside, this is the first thing that has made me want to see the movie, for some reason. If it can inspire a mix...

I thought the flick was flawless, but I can see why people don't. I liked the fact that the music was at a very minimal in the film... made it a lot more tense. But your soundtrack for it is impeccable. Maybe I'll start the book as an excuse to listen to this over-and-over again!

Haven't read the book, but I did love the flick. (Same with 'there will be blood'.) Great stuff here. Really cool mix.

Lots of great tracks on here, but the support of the theme is fantastic. Damn, I never heard that Neil Young sound so eerie and atmospheric.

Great collection. Since the early 80s I've bought any album with T-Bone's name on it: artist, producer, spouse, etc.

Finally getting to listen to this and, I have to say, it's very shrewd. Especially loving the appropriateness of 1,2, and 8 so far. Really nice job, Derek...
