Comment:

Here is a two disc retrospective of the career of my favorite singer/songwriter ever, Gene Clark. In my opinion Gene was, at his best, as good a writer as either Bob Dylan or Neil Young, and definitely a superior vocalist. Originally I made a one disc retrospective, but I kept on changing it around because I couldn't decide on the track listing, so I decided to expand it to include what I think are all his most essential tracks from the well-known Byrds classics to more obscure but equally brilliant tracks like "Only Colombe" and "Past Addresses." Over the 40 songs on these two discs the quality never drops even a little, which really says a lot about Gene's consistency as an artist. I also included only originals, which meant I had to leave off some spectacular covers, most notably his masterful cover of Dylan's "Tears of Rage" off of the "White Light" album, which completely blows away the Band's version.

This is great. Thanks. I'm old enough to remember the earlier cuts being played on the radio. Wish you had posted a link.
