Comment:
For a mix CD competition amongst friends. The prompt was, "A soundtrack for a galactic space hero who battle space pirates and has a loveable small furry alien as a sidekick."The Carpenters version of Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Crafts didn't fit, so it got cut.
Feedback:
Some righteously cool choices here. I've always loved Queen and Mott The Hoople, and I like your picks from T. Rex, Bowie and ABBA. Exactly how these songs would fit into a sci-fi adventure saga, I have not a clue, but you are to be commended regardless! :-)
love Roll Away the Stone.
the mind boggles !Clearly I need to rid myself of the shackles that ground my musical tastes and opinions as I cannot, for the life of me, make the jump between this collection of (albeit great tracks) and a galactic space here who battles space pirates and has a small furry alien as a sidekick !Actually, I've give it some more thought and I can see how Hawkwind makes the cut . . . .Awesome imagination !
The only thing missing is "Calling Occupants of interplanetary Earth" by the Carpenters
Hawkwind's 'Spirit Of The Age ' would have been perfect for this mix. Re previous comment. The Klaatu original of that song is miles better. Good mix but not sure bout the political correctness of yer mix title.
The title stems from the political un-correctness of the past. I hadn't thought to explain it here, but Flash Gordon fought a stereotypical Fu Manchu Asian named Ming the Merciless, and Buck Rogers' arch-enemies were horrid squinty-eyed Asian stereotypes called the Mongals.
My title was a way to point out the inherent racism in those comics/franchises, not to espouse it.
Thanks for the compliments and comments, everyone!

I like the title, concept and well-executed mix. The Carpenters would have worked as a Coda.
