Comment:
This mix got kicked off when doowad sent an email saying
"Oye, gabacho, tus mixes no tienen ning·n sentido,"
which I mistranslated as "Let's do an alt-DJ mix."
I picked the Manß track sort of at random, and then learned that
AOTM-er ika (who according to the tabloids, is romantically linked
with doowad) knew the band back in university in Guadalajara.
For German speakers, note that the Spanish "ja ja ja"
equates to English "ha ha ha," not "yes yes yes." Just saying.
The Samim track is courtesy of minimal-house expert
modyfier,
who apparently likes to shake her
culo to the occasional cumbia.
The Latin tracks span a range of styles: rock, bachata, merengue, etc.
You'll like it, te aseguro.
Photoshopping by Derek (that's him on the left).
Feedback:
derek, you are turning into quite the popular collaborator - you're like the new hot producer, everyone wants to work with you. can't say i blame them. looking forward to this one.
Who are those gauchos, amigo? Why are they standing in their faded western blue-jeans and that
mischief in their eyes..?
Looks like a shoot-em-up excursion, boys!

Doowad is so prolific, it defies comprehension. Yet, there is absolutely no lapse in quality, nor diminishing returns. Add to this, your deft touch and creativity...and, well, the result speaks for itself. Magnifico.
Funny. Derek & Ed look EXACTLY how I pictured them. And if ever they collaborated on a mix, I reckon it would look as magnificent as this...
Nice work, fellas, I know only the Knopfler here, so off to another adventure.
This *looks* fun, although I've heard not a song here, to my recollection. Must remedy that....
i finally figured it out. derek's plan is to teach us all spanish.
What Rob said.
Well I know The Sadies, Hindu Love Gods and Mano Negra so that's a head start. Looks like chemistry to me.
Pretty cool collaberation.
Hey, what's Greg Kinnear doing with my sister's b/f on your CD cover??? Looks really cool -- always glad to see local cats The Sadies get some play!
I'm limited to about four familiar tracks, but looking forward to hearing the rest. Nice job, guys!
Some names I know, like Knopfler who I'd rather not spend any time with, and others that mean zilch. I have to get googling or move to Mexico.
Yeh K&R 'Let's Go To Mexico.' As Barry said re the artists on the mix.
Looks like great fun.
I embarrassed to say I don't know any of these artists except Manu Negra, but I love the latin flair.
I've just tried clicking on every word in your mix and I can't get this damn thing to download. what am I gonna' do? love Lila Downs for starters... and great cover art on this one. is that Greg Kinnear and Orson Welles?
ooohh. also really liked the tracks by Daniela Mercury, Joaqufn Sabina and Samim. thanks for hookin' me up!
Man, this looks even better than it sounded!!! I love your comments and will be ready for a rematch anyday.
