Comment:
This mix was made last Halloween for the kid who would one day become my boyfriend... although I had no idea at the time. I was just making a mix for a good friend, nothing more. Although now he prefers the likes of Bright Eyes and The Rocket Summer, he was going through a pretty dark musical phase at the time... and I was delighted to oblige his tastes. I loaded this mix up with some of my favorites (Interrogation, Jack Off Jill, Rasputina, Siouxsie), as well as obscure tracks for the sake of education. As dank and doomy as this mix gets, I didn't forget to toss in a sprinkle of silliness (since the goth scene where I'm from is nothing if not silly). "Dark Salvation" has wonderfully un-subtle lyrics such as "and then he fries the little child", while "Call Me" is (you guessed it), a deliciously shameless Blondie cover. Ultimately, this is a good starter mix for budding fans of goth, industrial, and the generally spooky, chock full of nutritious undead goodness.Feedback:
not my usual fare but i like the rasputina and jack off jill.
i love the rammstein, and lords of acid totally make some good dance music, even if you often have to cringe at the lyrics. from the likes of KMFDM to the rocket summer? it's so fun to think about the crazy musical transitions that we make. :)
Siouxsie & The Banshees are always welcome, as is Rasputina.
