Comment:
This mix puts a different spin on Radiohead, with most of the artists here favoring liberal interpretations rather than faithful recreations. Brad Mehldau and The Cinematic Orchestra, for example, put the songs in a jazz context. The last track is a Belgian girls choir. Child Rebel Soldiers is a one-off collaboration between Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. Their song interweaves Thom Yorke's vocals. "Us Placers" and the Panzah Zandahz cut, "Change the Beat," are the only songs here that aren't covers. The performances by Gillian Welch, Sarah Slean and The Flaming Lips are live; the others are all studio recordings (or the equivalent).
Feedback:
Gillian Welch's version of "Black Star" is just beautiful.
I love the Scala choir; they are always on my Halloween mixes because it's just so darn weird to hear them sing "Creep" or that Divinyls song.<3 Sara
A different spin, indeed!
Have you heard the Christopher O'Riley versions of radiohead? They might be even more liberal than Brad Mehldau. Great concept by the way!
