Comment:
Putting together the Tea With Mr Blackwell mix, I couldn't help noticing how many of the tracks I was planning to include had flutes tootling away in them. (And actually, a case could be made for regarding the flute rather than mellotrons or moogs as THE definitive early prog rock instrument). So I had a re-think, & re-jig and came up with this companion volume of tracks from the Island pink label period where the instrument prominently features.
There's one exception: the Harold McNair comes from his "Flute & Nut" album on RCA but as he played on a number of Island releases (that's him on the John Martyn & Bama Winds cuts) and had an album released by them in '65 -"Affectionate Fink" which I`ve been trying for ages to track down without any luck- it's not too much of a cheat.

Feedback:
Judging by this mix the flute is very much a late 60, early 70's instrument. Wonder how many bands use it these days. Nick Drake is my pick here.
Yeah, the Nick Drake and Ian Anderson's "Bouree" are major favorites here.
A fine companion mix. I love the King Crimson picks, as well as the Traffic, Nick Drake and Martyns pieces. "Bouree" is pretty cool, as well.
great mix, nice concept, wonderful title.
Cool! Someone who has a little info on that Bama Winds album. Grazin' in the Grass is my favorite cut from it. The Traffic cover would also fit nicely on here. Lovely mix.
Haven't heard it yet but this looks superb. I've always had a thing for the flute and it's quite possibly those Tull tracks that are the cause of it.
I don't all of these but I'm a big fan of that first King Crimson track! Looks like something I need to hear...
Other than the Blues Project song "Flute Thing" you've hit 'em all. One of my favorite Tull tracks, too.
I'm not a prog man, but you have done a great job here.
