Comment:

Or: Isn't there an exit somewhere for you? Oh, yes. Here it is. You Get Off Here. First, this mix began with the last MOTW, "She Made Me Do It," which I have had on repeat since I downloaded it. It started something percolating in the ol' brain pan, an anti-romantic anti-VD mix. I was mixing it in my head when I overheard a conversation between two young women where I work. One of them is, apparently, trapped in a relationship that can be charitably defined as doomed. At that moment, the Fall Out Boy cut began playing in my head, and the Nilsson cut kept running into it. One thing lead to another, and here it is.There is no elpee listing for the opening or closing cut, simply due to the fact that I have them (both!) on no less than 5 different CD's and several other places. It seems that these two marvelous "Piss OFF, you loser!" cuts show up on a lot of V/A discs that are commercially available.Dionne's cut is among the most beautiful and straightforward (without stooping to crudity) cuts that suggest that a relationship is more than merely over, it is dead, not yet buried and stinking up everything in sight. While there are more (many, many more) cuts from a plethora of artists out there that would suggest that when IT IS OVER, feelings are destroyed and perceptions distorted beyond any hope of rehabillitation. This mix is dedicated to every empty-headed moron that has said "It is better to have loved and lost than never loved at all."IMHO, those that recite that twaddle have neither truly loved, nor truly lost, another. Frankly, there are times I wish I had never, ever, EVER dropped my defenses enough to fall that hard, that deeply, only to have the entire F*ucking world drop out from under me.

Love the Nilsson cut and the Prince cut especially (that's my absolute favorite Prince song), as well as your AC/DC, Dionne (another of my all-time favorite songs) and Stan Ridgway selections.
