Comment:
This is pretty self-explanatory, really: a two-disc revamping of my previous double single-disc Jam mix done prior to my arrival at AotM and posted in mid-2001. Jesus, Paul Weller (& Co.) was/were great once. As I stated back in the day, this is one of the rare examples where almost every single song that I wanted to include fit on the discs. This one goes out to Mike Pike Set, wherever he may be.Feedback:
You always pick such worthy subjects. Another home run here Rob. Priceless.
Only yesterday I was singing Away From The Numbers to myself. They did some fine B sides, Dreams Of Children, The Butterfly Collector and my favourite Jam song, Liza Radley, a beautiful slice of pastoral pop that invents XTC's post Black Sea career. Excellent work.
It was you who got me interested in The Jam with your orginal comp.
I like that my favourite Jam song gave the set its title.
Well that says it all!
Sweet! Every track a winner.
I used to put the Batman Theme on old dance mixes (we were just the right age for the TV show) & people had fun pogoing around to it reliving their elementary school years. Great band, glad to see you getting people interested in them.
glad you decided to update this - you attack all my favorites ("english rose" taking top honors), so kudos to you
Weller has certainly been prolific and stylistically eclectic throughout his career. I liked the Jam, liked Style Council more, and like Weller's solo material even better.
Funny, I've been staring at my single-disc Jam collection for months wondering when I'd get around to expanding it. I think it would (will) end up looking a lot like this, as I can't think of anything off the top of my head that's missing. Agree with your assessment of the band (though I think at about 110-120 minutes it'd be just about perfect).
One of my all-time favorite bands. I don't see a bad track in sight... Super!
Not so familiar with the Jam ... I mean, I know all about them and Paul Weller, but I just haven't listened to all that much (always liked Town Called Malice, of course). That said, I imagine this is another of your fine works.
Perfect. I like too much to mention here but A-Bomb, Ghosts and Thick as Thieves are my favourites today..
All hail Weller. Job well done Rob.
Nice collection Rob. I really should be familiar with all these songs, but sadly I'm not. Hard to believe that Mr. Weller is now 50. He's no longer a boy about town ;)
Very nice. Add me to the list of people getting out their Jam discs.
Nice compilation for this cool band.
awesome band, I tell Mike you said hey
I've just been watching them perform A-Bomb in Wardour street on a Whistle Test DVD . . . . they were soooo young . . . . and Bruce was soooo cool. Great job . . .
Incredible overview, Rob.
