Comment:

Part II of a specially-comissioned project for the lovely and talented talia j, one of my earliest supporters here at my AotM Home Away from Home. Her request (she called it a "proposition"): "an educational mix--in this case, artists you suspect I'm not listening to/familiar with and should be, using tracks off whichever albums of theirs you think I should start with." More extensive notes can be found on Discs 1 & 2. There could still be more on the way.... Thanks again to SQ for re-awakening my interest in Os Mutantes and for introducing me to that Cut Chemist track via one of her wonderful romantic mixes.

Oh My. I'm speechless. On some days 'Paris 1919' is my favourite song ever. On others 'Panis et Circenses' is. On others it's 'Death Disco'. I could go on, Babies, Amateur Hour, Friction, Kevin Rowlands wonderful falsetto...

Niiiiiiiiice. There's enough artists on this who I'm very slightly familiar with that I already know I'm really going to dig it. Also, remind me to tell you the story about why my uncle had a falling out with John Fahey, who, if you knew him personally, was apparently kind of a dick ...

rob, this is absolutely fucking phenomenal, even better than your first set - so many of these are just some of my all-time favorite artists, period - the james brown, television, happy mondays, LCD soundsystem, wire, minutemen, PIL, wu-tang (probably my favorite song off what is most likely my all-time favorite hip-hop album - going to see them april 18, super stoked about that), libertines, pulp, elvis, pink mountaintops, pogues, JAMC, kris kristofferson, randy newman...shit, i just went & checked off the entire list (& that only begins to cover it). just really superb, rob, one of your best...will al ink be forthcoming?

I stand but I'm reeling. That Dexy's song, I won't mention how many times I've sung along to that in a ridiculous voice. And White Girl, how I singed my lungs belting that one out through most of the 80's. Excellent Sparks, Soft Cell, Unrest, Television tracks, I can even tolerate the Presley track. Marvellous.

Even though it's lacking any Gloria Gaynor, this looks like a delightful collection of tunes you've assembled on two shiny CDRs. More songs about Whites, babies and sex dwarves. You're super bad, Mr. Conroy.

If the standard stays this high I request a part 3,4,5,6... Special. P.S I was listening to that Wooden Wand tune before I clicked on this. Spooky.
