Comment:

My friend Steve never fails to amaze me with his strength of will and his blind faith in life, no matter how much he would deny it. He is back to "normal" and while he is neither turning 59 or cuarenta y diez, this is a late birthday present for him (43, 25 in the chair). He hates the Allman Brothers and doesn't care much about Jaguares, but he knows I don't care. I balanced it out by putting his favorite Burning Spear and one of his favorite bluesman, Hound Dog, plus some of his new favorites, Lila Downs, Sabina y Mano Negra. And I know he will appreciate that I cut out 2 minutes of Neil noodling. The other titles just remind me of who he is and how he keeps doing whatever he has to do, despite the difficulties & obstacles that to a lesser man would be impossible to overcome. My parents didn't give me any brothers, so I had to find one.

The opener is one of my fave Neil Young tracks and Burning Spear Brixton Academy 1994 will ever remain the best gig I've attended. Nice one Derek.

In finding your "brother" Steve, you made your Zen together. A mix to be listened to over & over.
