Scavenger Hunt Mix for a swap on swap-bot.com
There are 25 categories altogether. Required to use at least 15 of them. Here are the 5 I didn't use:
-Song from or about any religion (Let's avoid derogatory songs, k?)-Song about childhood-Song that makes a political statement-Song that is about or mentions or alludes to a Shakespearean play (interpret as loosely as you want!)-Song that reminds you of one of your parents
And the 20 I did use:
1. Song with at least some lines that aren't in English: Regina Spektor - Ne Me Quitte Pas
Weird and extremely talented! Regina is one of my favorites. If I could I would've picked "Samson", "Us" or "Poor Little Rich Boy" to begin with, but this one fits the category and is great as well.2. Song recorded this year: Bon Iver - Skinny Love
A greatly anticipated 2008 release for me. The first time I heard this song I was hooked! The whole album is amazing!3. Song recorded before 1970: Simon & Garfunkel - The Only Living Boy In New York
One of my favorite songs of all time. Simple and simply beautiful! "Hey,I've got nothing to do today but smile." "Half of the time we're gone and we don't know where." "Hey, let your honesty shine, shine, shine like it shines on me." God! I love this song.....4. Song about a city: The Decemberists - Los Angeles, I'm Yours
Great! :)5. Song to exercise to: Justice - D.A.N.C.E.
Such a fun song! Listen to this and try not moving... I.M.P.O.S.S.I.B.L.E.6. Song about death: Band Of Horses - The Funeral
Need I say more? Great Indie Rock song! Great meaning behind it. Beautiful melody.7. Song that you can relate your life to: Ryan Adams - I Taught Myself How To Grow Old
Ha! I'm afraid the title gives it away. The lyrics tell a story...8. Song about hopes/dreams: Iron & Wine - Fever Dream
I think I cheated a little bit on this one... I'm not sure it really fits the category, but since it has the word "Dream" in the title I decided to use it anyway because I absolutely adore this song.9. Song from an artist who only recorded one album: The Boy Least Likely To - Be Gentle With Me
Ah, sweet Indie Pop! They seriously need put out a new album.10. Song about one of the senses (taste, smell, sight, etc.): The Magic Numbers - I See You, You See Me
I really, REALLY like this song! I love how it captures the act of falling in love when you least expect so perfectly. ::Sighs::11. Song that you could listen to on repeat over and over: Cat Power - I Found A Reason
WOW! I absolutely LOVE Cat Power! What can I say about this song?! It blows my mind! Everything about it is breathtaking! It reaches inside my chest and takes a very firm grip on my heart and I can literally feel my heart skip a beat... I don't know how else to explain it. If I had to pick one song to listen to for the rest of my life, this would be it, hands down.12. Song about an emotion: Lovers - Take Good Care
There are not enough words to explain how much I LOVE this band and how ridiculously underrated they are. Their lyrics are so heartfelt and the way she delivers it is nearly flawless. A song about an emotion delivered with tons of it.13. Song that mentions some form of technology: Bill Ricchini - Like An X-Ray
Short & sweet. Love it!14. Song from a less popular or less well known genre: Jens Lekman - The Opposite Of Hallelujah
I love Swedish pop! Jens is amazing when it comes to composing great pop songs! Definitely not given the credit he deserves. I just saw him live last week and he's brilliant. This song proves it!15. Song that mentions food or a specific food in the title: Damien Rice - Coconut Skins
Damien Rice is BEAUTIFUL! I love his mind and passion! In my world he's a genius. That's about as original as I can get when it comes to him, that simple. :)

16. Song mentioning or including something nature-like: The Arcade Fire - The Woodlands National Anthem
I love this band! So amazingly talented! This EP is sooo good!17. Duet with singers who don't usually sing together: She & Him ( M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel) - Magic Trick
Who would've thought?! This makes me so happy! I love M. Ward. And Zooey was one of those cases where I'd watch one of her movies hoping she'd sing in it... Little did I know it'd get this good. This song is great!18. Song about or mentioning sports/a sport: Belle & Sebastian - Piazza, New York Catcher
Another great swedish pop band!19. Tribute song (tribute to original singer, event, whatever): Dolorean - The Biggest Lie
A tribute to Elliott Smith. Love the original. Love this cover. It's really great!20. Song you've sung to your child/children, or would like to if you had them: Tilly & The Wall - You And I Misbehaving
Not a song I'd like to sing to them, but one that I'd love to put on a mix for them. Beautiful lyrics!

The Bill Ricchini track is short and sweet indeed. That's a terrific ES cover by Dolorean, whose original stuff is quite lovely too (and whose drummer wrote the Elliott Smith & the Big Nothing bio).
