Comment:

Mix I made for long awaited trip to Hawaii. Admittedly not every song is about Hawaii but wanted to reflect my mood of the time. Going through alot of introspection about work at the moment...blah, blah, blah.

#1 Buffett doing alot of sailing and going out on the water on this trip really feel that this osng is one of the great sailing tunes....makes me wish I was the son of a son of sailor. Besides son of a son of a teacher doesn't sound as cool.

#2 Blue Hawaii the quintesential Hawaiian Tourist song. Here off the Honeymoon in Vegas Soundtrack. Willie in a beautiful voice here.

#3 White Sandy Beach....speaking of beautiful voices. I heard this gentlemen a few years back on NPR and he just astounded me with his voice. When I went to Hawaii I found out he had passed away at age 37. Makes this song all the more bittersweet to me now.

#4 Walk on the Ocean...One one the more recent cool sailing songs. You ever notice people just don't sing about the ocean anymore...kind of sad.

#5 I never learned to appreciate this song until a few years back and I was in a noisy bar trying to call and old girlfriend("in a noisy bar in avalon I tried too call you.") to apologize about some of my past behavior after spending a week out on a boat reflecting about why my relatioships always seem to break down...i.e. me.

#6 Sting, Lithium Sunset. The healing power of watching a sunset.

#7 Tiny Dancer...I got hooked on this song again after watching 'Almost famous'. Not Hawaiian not too travel related but a great traveling song.

#8 & #9 Kind of fillers but I love the Hunt for red october and it's opening song is great to hear splashing though the waves. Lonely Planet I always thought thet LP was more of the travelers guide (vs a tourist guide)...Now after reading "the beach" it's just stripped down tourism.

#10...Many rivers to cross. Good rflection song about the big picture of life. I gained some respect for JFK jr. when I found out this was one of his favorite songs.

#11...Cheesy I know. But after all this introspection I needed something over the top to build up my ego.

#12 Not Hawaiian. Not introspective. Just a cool song especially live. The Edge is all over the place and banging out chords. Bono singing "We'll shine like stars in the summer night. We'll shine like stars in the winter time. One heart, one hope, one love.".

#13 I downloaded this on a whim...and loved it has made a few sleep mixes I've given people. Nimoy reading the classic poem over some mystical new age music and whale sounds. Went whale watching on my trip got to see one...totally brilliant.

Enigma...after hearing this for the third time in a row decided what I'm going to do about my job problems. Quit.

Love to hear anyone's feedback about this mix.
