Comment:
My parents were both born in 1928 (they turn 80 this year). The making of this mix turned out much nicer than the year of my birth mix for 1955 (1928 must have been a better year; having the first McDonald's Hamburger Joint open on the day and year of my birth may have been a sign; Mickey Mouse appeared for the first time in cartoons in 1928). Playing time for this mix is 79m44s. The picture is of Bix Beiderbecke.
Feedback:
Judging by these selections, '28 was a good year indeed. Compiling these must have been... difficult at least! Awesome job, and thanks for the download.
I've been listening to a lot of Bix, as I told you, but now you have thoroughly taken the wind out of my nostalgia sails. Well done and much thanks for the link!
'28 must have been swinging. Nice to have this testimony to one of the roaring years.
another trip in the retrojoe time machine. thanks!
Retro rules! Keep kicking that crazy rhythm!
The mix is wonderful. How could it not be with this line-up. The notes are brief, informative and essential. The result is the very essence of this site. Thanks, and all the best to you and your folks, Joe.
My dad was born in 1929 and I'm sure he'd know a some of these as he's a jazz fan. I'm not averse to a little Bix.
Bix is anigmatic figure here in Iowa (he was born in Davenport in 1903)and they still celebrate him there every year with a Jazz Festival and a Race. This is really great, Joe, as always.
As Shakespeare said - some years are born great, some years have greatness thrust upon them, & some years are mixed great. I think 1928 may have been born great but it needs mixers like you to bring it back to life. Many thanks.
