Comment:
So, a couple months back I arranged a trade with one Mr. Rob Conroy. Those of you not living under a rock for the month of March likely saw the unbelievable 5-disc set that was his end of the bargain ("That's What You Get for Having a Hobby"). Well, this isn't actually the mix he asked me for -- that's going to take me at least another month to track down the missing pieces -- but because of the long delay, I wanted to make him a supplemental mix to cut the wait. That'd be this one. I really enjoyed compiling this -- because I set myself a task of using no tracks/albums I'd used recently, with as many new artists as possible, it really got me out of the rut of what I'd been listening to. Credit for exposure goes to a lot of different random sources, but I'm particularly indebted to my old friend Jonathan (tracks 9, 11, 14, and 18) and to my father (tracks 1, 13, and 17, and more indirectly tracks 12 and 19). A lot of my mixes end up associating themselves with a particular place or time of day; this one's definitely late night. Title from the Wolf Parade track.Hope you like it, Rob. :)Feedback:
Yowza! This looks really, really, great, Ms. J. You really *did* go out of your way to stretch out and many of these are songs I love--most notably tracks 4-6, 9-10, 15 and 18-19. Thanks a million! I can't wait to hear it.
Track 20 always scares the living daylights outta me.
Err, sorry that should have been track 19.
Cuts the wait good!
Oh, Lord. And you used one of my absolute favourits Ryan Adams-tracks! It gives me shivers...
Very sweet. I especially like Elvis and Lucinda Williams back 2 back.
this looks absolutely phenomenal, totally worthy of its recipient - tracks 6, 8-11, 14-15, 17-19 are real favorites...just great
An impeccable closer. #3,9, & 17 are favorites here too.
