Don't Pass Me By: Underrepresented Beatles Vol. 2
Comment:
In the four months or so since the last mix I've posted at AOTM, I've had some reversals: my CD burner went all wonky on me, and though I've finally got a new one now, I've been waiting to restart posting here until the time is right. Well, as one of the most earnest crop of the late '60s Beatles imitators put it, "There's a time, and the time is Now, and it's right for me...."Well, okay, so maybe there really isn't any *need* right now for this particular mix on this particular site. Nevertheless, and you probably know I'm going to say this, that's not why I'm doing it....
I have to say, I was probably stung more than I realized I actually could be at the time by the comments on mahdishain's "Unappreciated in 2007" tribute (MixID = 117560). Of all things, I didn't want to be accused of not giving enough love. I knew I could have responded the way that krenzel16 did, but of course I know in my heart that that's not the whole truth. Was my reaction then to run shame-faced from AOTM for four months? Surely, partly, and partially. But then again, if AOTM is a community, for my own sanity I have to reserve the right to leave the community, just like any community, for any stretch of time, that I do desire....
May this, then, be entirely unwrapped of all self-defense, then, then: I do think, now, that what gets closest to the real truth of the matter:, is that there are times when I'm into mixes, and I make them and post them and listen to them; and there are times when I'm not, and I on the whole listen only to full albums and decide I always have plenty better to do than go through my prodigious track-refinement mixmaking shenanigans. What is AOTM for me? A spur, could be. And at times that I feel like I possibly *could* be a part of the community, well, I just feel sucked in by the rabbit hole.... I feel, that I feel blown forward, to deliver my love to all points of the compass.
I've probably been preserved here over the past several months for a far major part due to the efforts of madhishain and doowad: thank you, then, to you, thanks, in clusters! And, I do think the tide is turning once again: I'm even right now listening to one of my old mixes (MixID = 94490), hopeful inspiration for another toke down the pipeline! (Which, I suppose is a perfect example of "a record for myself"....)
And I do think, if slowly or hesitatingly, that I *am* getting better at this mix deal... at least, I've certainly got plenty more, and solider, Beatles knowledge then I did when I did Heading for the Light (MixID = 94561) almost three years ago...! Though of course, that's not why I'm doing this shindig either....
(And, there's intentionally no "Underrepresented Beatles, Vol. 1"; I won't presume on the Fabbest Four. Thought after some time, too, that maybe I should have included "Two Of Us" (TT: 75:07, so I easily could have), but somehow, I *like* shafting Let It Be. Oh, and if you think the first two tracks are confusing... do like the Abbey Road concept album does... and please ignore the single!)

Feedback:
No You Know My Name(Look Up The Number). Shame. Oh another fine Beatles mix and as they got me into music what else could I say? And I'm not the only one who likes Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
you can't miss here, of course, but i'm glad to see no.s 4, 6, 8, 12, 18 & 21.
I'm no Beatles scholar, though I love them dearly and well enough to recognize most of these. Nice choices!
Don't Pass Me By has always been a favorite in the doowad household.
Ooh, "Girl" is one of my favourites.
Always especially liked Girl, Yer Blues, and What Goes On. This is a great collection!
was always upset that "don't pass me by" didn't get more love - the country carnival stomp of that song really does it for me
Having grown up with the Beatles they have never really seemed special to me. They are always there when I need them but I don't seem to need them that often. Thanks for reminding me that they are there when I do. Girl, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I Will, and Don't Pass Me By are my favorites from this list. Feel free to have your own.
I am very happy to see an Abangaku mix. They are among my favorites. Present them at your own pace.

Nicely put together though I can't imagine how to differentiate between the appreciated and the under-. Think you've got it, however.
You Know My Name (Look Up the Number) would've been a lovely closer here.
