My favorite 'O' song is 'Oliver' by Kara's Flowers. There's also 'Ondine' by They Might Be Giants...
gloria, isis, rosie, and sam stone are my favorites. Oliver's Army gets my O vote.

I was thinking "Odessa" by Aesop Rock and "Xaul Zan's Heart" by Non-Prophets, but they're both hip hop so they'd stick out like a sore thumb. However, a couple good Y songs would be "Yuko & Hiro" by Blur and "Yertle the Turtle" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Wonderful idea though, and well-executed.
