Comment:
The only single artist mix I will ever do... THE RESIDENTS! Thanks to my love of Primus, I was introduced to the Residents in 1994 when I found a "best of" compilation entitled "Hell". I immediately fell in love with what I consider to be the most difficult band ever. For anyone who hasn't heard the "Eyeball Guys", this is a pretty fair introductory sampling. The Residents are masters of the concept album, so many of these songs are out of context. Here is a video for "Hello Skinny", one of my favorites. I hope this mix will inspire some of you to delve deeper into this freakin' weirdo band.
Feedback:
yes!
& I think it's fair to say that the Residents are ALWAYS "out of context" . . .

"Most difficult band ever" is pretty apt, but still...some compelling and challenging stuff. My exposure to them has been selective so far, though I have a coworker who's a fanatic and he thankfully turned me on to Demons Dance Alone.
I still think that dude looks like William Burroughs. Not sure if I have the gnevos for a download, though...
Slow day at the studio? ;-)

The Commercial Album proves they could write a conventional tune if they wanted to. And their version of Satisfaction imbues it with menace and frustration, should be on here. They have no equal.
