Comment:

Disc 1 additional tracks:31) What You're Doing32) No Reply33) She's a Woman [mono].Disc 2 additional tracks:31) For No One [mono]32) I Want to Tell You [mono].Yes, I've done two four-disc Beatles collections previously (in fact, I've done so many Beatles comps over the past twenty-two years it's almost impossible to count), but this one is *really* my definitive version. Instead of breaking the series up into two sets of double-disc chronicological mixes, I've now made this my very first FIVE-disc single-artist mix and arranged every single song in chronological order across all five discs (consulting, of course, Revolution in the Head and The Beatles Recording Sessions to make sure I'm as close as humanly possible to the exact chronological order in which these were recorded). The posting of the next set will follow shortly. In the meantime, enjoy and feel free to tell me which of your favorites I haven't included and why that's a problem (noting, of course, that this set only goes mid-way through Revolver in terms of their timeline.) FYI, all versions that do not feature "[ ]" after them are the "standard" EMI-sanctioned CD versions.

No one is in your tree, Rob. Amazing overview. Rain is my favorite from that period, but of course it is all just right.

i still gotta get on disc two of my single artist beatles mix (covering their pre-rubber soul & post-white album eras) - not sure it could ever come close to these though. listing my favorites is a bit frivolous, i guess, seeing as everything here is not only gold but the greatest pop music that ever will be recorded. my only real favorite that is actually missing is "nowhere man," which i know we disagree on, but other than that you tackle most, if not all, of my favorites ("in my life," "julia," "i'm only sleeping," "across the universe," "strawberry fields forever," "rain," "we can work it out," etc.). a true labor of love, & an insurmountable achievement. great, great stuff...

One thing worth checking out is the "Get Back" sessions bootleg to hear how The Beatles originally wanted those songs to sound before production got its mitts on the recordings.

Can't be beat. I think a really interesting project would be to see a disc of your least favorite (or even hated?) Beatles songs. What *is* your least fave?

I've never been compelled to make a single Beatles mixtape. The songs are so good, just hearing them is enough. They don't need to be in any order whatsoever.

A Labour Of Love, of course. And hopefully a mix you'll listen to again and again. Intruiged as to why you don't rate 'Nowhere Man', such a simple, beautiful tune. But no disputing your love for this band. If I could I'd give you 6 stars..

To make a definitive Beatles comp, or even approach the task, is a daunting effort. I am simply in awe of the obvious effort and detail that had to go into this. Fantastic!

The last time I made a Beatles mix, I was advised that Beatles mixes were "dime a dozen on this site." Of course, no mix of yours (at least none I am aware of, anyway) could possibly fall into that slap-in-the-face damnation via faint praise. Excellent (all!!) and amazing. Do carry on...

I think you're the fifth Beatle, Rob. Great summation of the Fab Four's somewhat brief -- but prolific -- career. Impressive work, mate.

I've been downloading all of the Purplechick deluxe editions of the Beatles' albums lately. Pretty exceptional work. The Pepper multi-tracks are fun to play with in my copy of NTrack Studio...

I've been toying around with the idea of making some sort of Beatles compilation, but I've long been burnt out on them. (The officially released core catalogue stuff, at least.)

Like I said on your Stones mix(es)-you nailed most of my favorites and missed most of my favorites. For my Fabs I had to break their career into thirds (like I did with XTC) with one disc a piece, and there were so many songs I was bummed to not be able to include. It's a no win/no lose situation. :)
