Comment:
The greatest band New Zealand ever produced (well, ok, then there's Flight of the Conchords, but that's a different story entirely). A unique blend of 60s garage band rawk, VU-inspired drones, and jangly indie pop. Pretty much all the Clean you could ever want is on the essential 2-cd official Clean Anthology, but thought I'd mix it up a bit by adding a couple tracks omitted from that collection, alongside some solo Kilgour tracks (thanks Barbara!), spin-off band the Great Unwashed, and a fine track from Barbara Manning's wonderful In New Zealand ep.
Feedback:
Thanks for the continuing education. I'll check them out.
Their early work is phenomenal (I have two comps, one entitled, appropriately enough, Compilation, and the other, Odditties), but I'm relatively unfamiliar with the rest. I hope to rectify that soon.
label me intrigued - gonna have to check them out, marc
Well, there's also a little band called Crowded House, or Split Enz, but I do like The Clean. Nice compilation.
Thanks for another "new" band for us to check out.
Great stuff! Vehicle is one of my all time favorite CDs from a NZ band, or any band for that matter. So was it Barbara Manning that gave you the Kilgour tracks? She used to deejay at the same college radio station I worked at. We're both on the KCR honor roll!
Yeah - great indeed. "Billy Two" is just such an awesome pop tune.
Great band, great comp.
