Comment:
A few weeks ago it occurred to me I was fast approaching my 100th mix posting on Art of the Mix. And so I decided to honour it with an extra special mix - favourite tracks picked by various members of the wonderful AotM community. So, a few weeks ago, I sent out invites to all the mixers I believe contribute highly into making this site such a pleasure to browse, and be a part of. Obviously I will have missed a few of you, and for that I am sorry.I very much hoped this would end up being a Double Cd mix. It then became apparent this was going to be a triple, and as the numbers submissions hit, and passed 60, I realised it would have to be a double posting. So: thanks to you all, this is a 4 disc spectacular.
Now - I must stress this isn't a 68 track mix to be listened to in one sitting, it's more 4 separate hour long mixes. And not wanting to be accused of favouritism or bias in any way ( my favourite tracks or mixers on Disc 1, for instance ) I worked things out like this..
Dragging every song into an I tunes folder, I put them all into length order, shortest to longest. I then took every fourth song ( 1, 5, 9, 13 etc ) and dragged them into a new folder marked `One'. From the remaining tracks I took every third track and placed them in folder `Two'. With the remainder, took every second track, placed them in `Three', and the songs left were placed into folder `Four'. I hope that makes some kind of sense.
I'll Ramble On a little more on the next posting, but for now Happy 100th to me Sammy G! I'll be signing up for another ton if that's okay.

Feedback:
WOW! This really looks unbelievable Sam. Fantastic job at compiling all of these tracks from such luminary mixers. Can't wait to give this a listen...
You've put together a wonderful collection here Sam. So many great picks by everyone. A new Black Hollies! Thanks valis for putting that out there. Can't wait to pick that up.
Glad to see you finally got ahold of Gabe. And Thomas Mohr who we haven't seen much of. Interesting methodology, I will be downloading as soon as I get home, still at me mum's ;-)
Yay!! Can't wait to hear the tracks. ALso, honored to be a member of this illustrious gathering. :-) <3 Sara
Can't wait to hear the results when I'm home and can do such things!
How ace are you, and this site, and all of us!

wow, sammy, your effort in commandeering this thing just pours out from all corners. seriously proud to be just a small part of an enormously pleasing result, as it looks to be. cannot wait to listen to all of this, it's making me all giddy.

Blech...yuck...yikes. One horrible selection after another. Best listened to on "Mute", I would have to say. ;)
[In all honesty, wonderful and masterfully sequenced. You're championship of community is highly admirable]

Happy 100th!!! (Or is this one the 99th?) I'm gobsmacked.
Beautiful. Great way to mark number 100.
Happy 100, Sam!!!! Overwhelming, to say the least. This looks incredible, thank you for putting this together, and again, thanks for allowing me to take part. Cheers!
I said it before but its what we do, its who we are. Thank you Sam for all your work.
Wow! I can't wait to dig into this outstanding mix.
I'm honored to take part in this historic occasion!

Wow! A 4 disc set! And every track linked back to the contributor! You've done meticulous work here, my friend. I am honored to be in the presence of your own good self and the many fine mix artists represented here.
I love it! Favorite songs from amazing mixers. It doesn't get much better than that. I am, also, honored to be asked to be apart of this.
Sammy, thanks so much for bringing so much excitement and happiness to so many of us out here. Your tireless work and exuberance has ignited all us like-minded folks with amazing energy. I'm salivating at the mere thought of experiencing all these intimate expressions from so many awesome contributors. I'm humbled to have played a part. Now, if only you were to take a break from mixing and set your sights on bringing about world peace and a healthy environment, the joy you`ve brought here would pale in comparison.Congratulations on number 100!
just got my new computer on line in time for this extravaganza. time to download and dig in. thanks!
Y'know, aside from this being a great idea for a project (particularly an anniversary project), this is pretty insanely great. Thanks again.
Most EXCELLENT. Didn't you do well! Didn't we do well! I'm flattered to have been included. As Rob says, 'insanely great' ! Thanks
Tremendous work. Thanks for the inclusion of my selection.
lanhamyodel's feedback on discs 3 & 4 pretty much took the words right out of my fingers. you've created the HOW THE WEST WAS WON of musical mixing. it's an all-star cast! taking the day off work, but I look forward to hearing these tomorrow, when I'm once again sitting before a computer made after 1974. happy 101, sammyg!
Wow Sammy, This is mindboggling! Applause for all the fine work you've done here, congrats on the 100th mix, and thanks for including my track! I'm honored to be among such stellar company.
okay this is amazing! soooooo cool!
Thanks Sam, for my inclusion and for this fab, diverse sampler of 68 mixing talents that AOTM and your efforts have helped to expose to a music-loving public. Regarding my contribution, "Piece of my Heart", it was sung by Aretha Franklin's younger sister and reached only #62 on the charts in 1967 (her only top 100 song). This song was instrumental in Janis Joplin's success when, with Big Brother & The Holding Company, she debuted on the charts with it the next year, when it charted in at #12 (her second biggest hit).
Honoured to be asked to take part in such a great concept. Congrats to all the other contributors for their fantastic picks, and especially you Sam for pulling it all together so brilliantly!
What a diverse posse we are.Wonderfully compassionate way to celebrate your 100th - this is what it's all about!
Happy 100th!!!
Hooray! Hopefully my song fit in among a group of artists I'm largely unfamiliar with.
just chiming in again, post-listen. not a dud in the bunch, though I think abangaku (my pick as recipient of the most original submission award) has a little explaining to do. ;-) my top picks on disc one are tracks sent in by gobi, hemizen, njr, Salman1 - and on disc two, I really liked tracks submitted by Barrydali, Curtis_Burns, buglady, blasikin, anthony lombardi and that pretty mahdishain pick. my favorite of the entire jumbo set though is probably that incredible "Wat Ju No" song that lanhamyodel sent in. amazing! but as I said, this is a really cool collection of great tunes from all. well done, us!
You done good.
