Comment:

Based on my own very small and unscientific sample, I have come to the conclusion that many of the basically straight guys on this site have had their sexuality called into question by the ignorant masses at some point of their lives, present company included. I am not asking you to come out of the closet. so to speak, but you know who you are.
And, I must emphasize that I stand arm-in-arm with anyone who swings the other way or both ways or no ways or upways or downways or anyways at all. To each his (or her) own, it's all unknown.
The inspiration for this mix came to me during the recent drama of the infected AOTM site and it occurred me that a few of these sort of sensitive fellows have congregated here under the AOTM flag.
And the mix? Well, some clichTs, some dirty thoughts, reading too much into the songs of course, but it's all in good fun. Thanks to Strange Loop, Doowadette & The Wad for their direct or indirect input on the tunes.

"Not that there's anything wrong with that!"
You are such a scream, wad-ster! Just imagine the puns we could make with "do(o)" plus "wad", given this theme! Ha! Ha! Ha!
And the Bonzo Dog Doo-dah Band! Haven't heard them in ages. Thanks for another good laugh/great mix.

Hmmm, the background color reminds me of what me and my Army buddies (in 1974) were stuck with to paint the inside of our barracks once before inspection. They told us to use what was available in the utility shed and all they had were cans of red and white paint. Never had the ultimate in manly love in that barracks (not that I didn't want to on a few occasions), but we did have some open minded guys there and probably two of my best friends fared from California where I eventually wound up right after my Army days to explore my sexuality and escape my conservative town in Upstate New York. Thanks for the courage to create this mix, even if you are just a friend of the family. Some great faves of mine on this mix (but then you knew that). If anybody missed my gay themed mixes you can find them at Moving to a Different Beat, Part I and Moving to a Different Beat, Part II. Those mixes came out when one of my nephews came out to me.Now if the gay community can all come out united at the polls in November to help elect a Democrat to occupy the White House. For those who missed my "Obama Playlist" they can find it here. Here's to unity of all who believe in the freedom for adults to love all adult human beings as they choose.

Wow! I love this mix so much that it's made me wonder if my fiance and daughter are just a smokescreen.. But seriously, I like everything here, because it's just great music.

Not my favorite REM tracks, but that's compensated for by the inclusion of one of my favorite Pogues tracks. Like the Pistols, Dolls, and Beatles picks too.

Lots of great songs here, particularly the Pogues, B&S, the Cure, the Beatles, Mott, the Dolls, the Fiery Furnaces, Lou Reed, the Bonzos, Funkadelic, Talking Heads and that particular B-52's track.

this looks right up my alley - 3-6, 8-10, 13, 17 & 22 are favorites. the whole thing looks really clever & witty & fantastic though.

i must admit to being one of those guys who gets mistaken for being gay on a near-daily basis - in fact, i get asked out by more gay men than women. i'm not sure whether loving this mix aids my "straight credentials," but shit i don't care.

oh, & kudos for the seinfeld clip!

you know, i just remember reading (in the past few days, which i'm sure is why it still rankles) some fucker from 2003 or something on this site saying something like "why would i listen to Tori Amos? last i checked i wasn't 14 and lacked a vagina." now i'm thinking of making an 8-CD Tori Amos retrospective to shove down his throat. glad to hear that your small and unscientific AOTM sample contradicts me.from the songs i know, this mix isn't just themed, either, it's got a real *feel* to it. i do kind of wonder what "fairytale of new york" is doing on here though -- if people seriously think shane macgowan is gay, then we artistes had better start getting back to those space colony plans posthaste.Oh, how could I possibly be still the first to comment that i adore-to-bursting the fact that the name of the color you've used on this baby's title is "ff00ff"??

"Right up my alley" just doesn't seem to be the appropriate comment here. "Not that there's anything wrong with it." I really, really like the thought put into the song selections.

I've always believed, naively I admit, that anyone who loves the arts, be it music, literature, film etc. must be tolerant; so I've always thought everyone on AOTM is free of petty prejudices. None of the comments here persuade me otherwise. Let's celebrate the freedom to love whom we choose without fear of judgement. Great mix, I especially love tracks 3,4,5,10,14 and 18.

loved the Queen, The Cure (of course) Lou Reed, Funkadelic and (another old favorite) Pogues tracks... but that Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band ditty really knocked my pants off. but I must say, those cream puffs look like something straight from the centerfold of HONCHO magazine.... uh, or so I've heard.

Much fun here. I got halfway through a similar-themed mix way back and never got around to finishing (Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging," Replacements' "Androgynous," and a whole heckuva lotta Magnetic Fields).
