No, no, it's not here yet!! (ha, ha, ha) :-) :-) :-)

Okay, okay, here's the deal...The big magnum opus I've been crowing about forever, my "rock opera" about a rock 'n' roller named Johnny, is almost...almost finished. In fact, Disc #1 is completed and finalized. It's just that I have yet to receive my rare copy of Howard Shore's soundtrack to the 2002 David Cronenberg film Spider (starring Ralph Fiennes), and there's just one track left to go! The last number on Disc #2 - the finale - is going to be...well, if anyone out there has actually seen the movie, they'll remember that lovely little Elizabethan ballad that plays during the o-pening credits. Yup, that's gonna be my closer! But fear not, for I know for a fact that I'll be receiving the Spider disc sometime next week, and then the very last piece will be in place - and my mix-meisterwerk will be complete at last!

And when I post it, I shall make every attempt to make it available to everybody out there in AOTM-land! That's right, for the first time ever, I'm going to try posting a link here to one of my mixes. However...not being particularly computer-savvy myself, I must rely on the assistance (and good graces) of relatives who do know a thing or two about such things. So, depen-ding on the breaks, this may or may not take a little time. But I'll get there eventually. Stay tuned for further details, folks! :-)

Now, then...to the mix at hand! I guess the most obvious thing to mention is that I have committed the most flagrant violation of my own "no more than one song by the same artist" rule. I mean, I've got nine Beatles songs on the same mix, for crying out loud!! Like, what gives, eh?! Well...because, silly! You can't just put one song from the Big Abbey Road Medley - you have to have the whole damn thing! :-) However, I did take the liberty of splitting it between discs. (And I trust that my Hen-drix violation is self-explanatory!)

Elsewhere, what have we got? Well...a handful of cool B-sides (Jeff Beck, Manics, Police)...a couple of cool covers (including a back-to-back pair of souped-up and hot-rodded numbers originally penned by '60s folk songstresses)...and...some more music from The Wicker Man! In this case, I've got Britt Ekland's...how shall I say?...extremely memorable song-and-dance number from that 1973 classic! [*wink*]

Also, on this mix as well as the previous three (#81-83), I've used a lot of songs that were at some point conten-ders for use in my "Johnny saga." And as you can see, with this mix I'm still kind of in my "Johnny groove," because in a weird way this mix has a decidedly similar sort of arc to it. I suppose it will all make a great deal more sense once I've finally posted my little rock opera mix. But in the meantime, think of this as getting the Outtakes/De-leted & Exten-ded Scenes section before you get to see the main feature! :-)
