Comment:
This mix is just a throwaway mix, or rather it would have been, literally. A coworker of mine recent brought me a huge case of cassettes that had belonged to her son. Knowing that I "like music," she though that I might want to have them, rather than see her throw them away. Many of the cassettes were dubbed copies and most were also.shall we say, not my tastes. But since my car only has a cassette player/radio, I figured why not try to give some of these tapes a new lease on life? So therefore, Ozzy Osbourne & Randy Rhodes' Tribute album is reborn as the above mix. The opening track is a "Twist and Shout"-style counting song from a Sesame Street album (Born To Add) my brother brought me recently from a big one-dollar vinyl sale. From there, I let the mix go where it wanted, adding a song or two here and there in my free time over the past couple of weeks. No link, since I pulled tracks from a wide array of sources - CD, vinyl, mp3, and even other cassettes - and no way to convert at the present. Thanks to Doowad for pointing me in the direction of the Waistcoats track, to Vambo for the Evan Foster track, and to my son for the use of his They Might Be Giants "1-2-3's" CD.And, or course, in the week or two that I worked on this tape, the cassette player in my car went kaput, as did the radio. I shouldn't have expected any different. Now car rides are not only unbelievably dull, I can also hear all the funny noises my car makes.Feedback:
Where's the friggin' Ozzy, man??? That's what I came here for!Hey, you can get MP3 players for next to nothing, best of Chinese handicraft...
Is your co-workers son's name Darth Pazuzu? Anyway, this new and improved mix looks great. I especially love the 10-15 stretch on side A.
amazing how a mix pulled from such a variety of sources can come out so strong, really - this looks absolutely great, tons of fantastic stuff here
Great mix, fine choices. My picks being Go - Twisterella stretch (awesome), and the wonderful Zombies track, Ventures, Cramps and Costello..
Very interesting picks! Makes for a top quality mix.
Zombina and the Skeletons played at a friend's wedding a couple of years ago. REM have covered Beat Happening?!? I think this is spectacular.
Brilliant (as ever) and a fun walk down memory lane. From The Zombies to Zombina, what a way to mix!
Great stuff here: Squeeze, Ride, Ventures, Cramps, TMBG and others. And bonus points for use of the Ozzy tape.
Well, in absence of car stereo perhaps a set of headphones and player might ease the drive time. The Squeeze track is my favorite of those I know.
Man oh man, there's some great music on there.
Hardly a throwaway, me thinks. Looks like a great way to recycle a C-90, though I think you should have kept at least one song from the OO & RR tribute out of respect to your co-worker's son ;) Sorry that you can no longer play it in your car -- I don't like hearing the funny (and probably expensive) sounds my car makes either.
A bunch of good stuff here... way to many to list.
