Comment:
NOTES, THOUGHTS, COMMENTS, EXPLANATIONS, ETC.:1) Lady Luck < Ballad Of Hollis Brown: An act of playful (political?) subversion! Don't get me wrong: I'm a big fan of Ted Nugent's guitar playing. Back in his '70s heyday, there were few others as untouchably badass as the Nuge. However, I don't necessarily agree with his politics! That's why so often, whenever I use one of Nugent's songs in a mix, I often can't resist the urge to undercut him somewhat with the song which comes after it! (On an earlier mix of mine, I followed Weeken-d Warriors with Pearl Jam's Glorified G - ha, ha!)
2) Youth Gone Wild < The Shape Of Things To Come: Pretty self-explanatory on a thematic level! I'd be very surprised if there was absolutely nobody else in the world who used this particular sequence in a mix disc.
3) You're Going To Lose That Girl: "Boys, are you buzzing?!" (Ha, ha!) [*wink*]
4) Solitude < Twenty Four Hours < Fade To Black: Truly a major conten-der for - if not necessarily the winner of - the title of most downbeat and depressing mix sequence I've put together. (BTW, Solitude marks my 16th "elimination": Black Sabbath's Master Of Reality!)
5) Avarice < Radio Baghdad: Nu-metal monsters Disturbed and '70s punk high priestess Patti Smith make for an unlikely dream date, that's for sure. But lyrically, the former leads quite logically into the latter!
6) Renaissance Fair < Trip To The Fair: Oh, come on! You honestly didn't think I'd be fool enough to pass up something so obvious, did you?! [*wink*] (The fact that this sequence was followed up by a band called The Merry-Go-Round - ha, ha - was merely a happy accident.)
7) Raining Blood < Burn < 1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be) < Moon, Turn The Tides...Gently Gently Away < All I Want Is You: This particular sequence is something I'd had in mind for quite some time, and this is the first opportunity I had to use it. Don't ask me why these songs in particular, but I just think the whole thing has a quite logical progression to it. (Although my only regret at how things turned out is that there's probably not enough healthy distance between the Renaissance and Slayer tracks. I mean, just the fact alone that I've got songs by these two artists on the same mix would probably qualify me as certifiable in some circles - ha, ha!)
Feedback:
Well, only in some circles. It makes sense to me.
Brazilian indie-electro band Cansei de Ser Sexy has a song called JSger Yoga, written after their 2006 tour when they tried to learn some yoga after drinking lots of JSger meister.
