Comment:

Sammy and I were chatting about his upcoming 100th mix, which landed with such aplomb earlier this summer. He encouraged me to do something similar for my 100th. Well, it turns out my 100th was somewhere in the middle of my redneck series last fall.
So, here I am at my 150th and rather than nick Sammy's idea 100%, I decided to do a one-song tribute to as many mixers as I could legitimately pay tribute to. My reasons were varied: the track chose is a song I know they love, or that I love off one of my favorite mixes of theirs, a style they might enjoy, or a song or artist they led me to, or perhaps one that I may have led them to, common ground we might have with an artist or song, or simply a personal message that hopefully the recipient understands (or at least hopefully I understand). Continued on next mix.

Friggin' awesome! A magnum opus from a mixmaster who has truly added so much to the community here at AOTM.

I love my new song! Se mezcla ranchero, C&W y hip-hop, todo de buen humor. (Y gracias por soportar mis correos electronicos en espa±ol.)

So where did you get the hi-res art of the Mix Monster?

I hereby grant Doowad/Derek permission to sire me many, many babies, to be conceived with this fabulous rangement of tracks playing softly as a background for our All-American good good lovin'. D has consistently proven himself to be not only a genius mixer, but also a fine specimen of devoted manhood and impeccable taste.

Doowad, as the kids say: You are the shit!!! Mix of the Week, Mix of the Year, Mix of the Decade, dude. And if this stupid site would let me do it, I'd have already nominated it.

this is a mammoth, incredibly exhausting, yet wonderfully reverent labor of love that is just bursting at the seams & overflowing with top tunes. saying "this is well worth the title of your 150th mix" is an understatement. you've outdone yourself, my amigo.

Undeniably spectacular. I can't imagine how your 200th mix will look like.
I also like the fact you've chosen a Dylan song to represent metal man Darth.

Glad to be included in this almost unbelievable feat. Someday, maybe for my 250th mix, I'll try my luck at something similar, but I doubt I could be anywhere near as comprehensive. Congrats on pulling this off.

Ditto, ditto and ditto. I guess none of us need to ask what you've been doing with your free time. Your pick for me is right on, and I'm getting quite a chuckle out of some of the other picks. Thanks, Derek. Looking forward to the next 150.
