Comment:
For the Hell of It (TM). In marked contrast to my last offering posted a few days ago, this mix was conceived and completed within two hours and, in my humble opinion, is all the better for it. I admit that I really, really like how it turned out. Special thanks to talia j for the Shudder to Think song, which I pulled from her absolutely to-die-for/fantastic mix that she made for me a couple of months ago (seriously, if you haven't asked her to upload it, you really should, and if she can't, I will). Title by Ian Curtis. And yes, Mr. G., that's a cover. In fact, I'm going to go out on a limb and call it my favorite Beatles cover (although I'm not generally a fan of folks covering Fabs songs).Feedback:
Joy Division, JCQ and The Replacements are standouts making this all simply excellent.
Great lookin' stuff, Rob.
I love the whole thing, another worthy FTHOI mix.
This looks absolutely to die for, Rob. The 9-13 run looks great. And I'm assuming #8 is a cover?
Not a big fan of the last number, but I like the 2-hour turnaround.
Early A Certain Ratio, that's like a hot kiss from the past.
ahh, a rob conroy for-the-hell-of-it - one of the very essentials of life. absolutely adore this - 2, 6, 9-11, 13, 16-17 really hit me the most - can't wait to five it a spin.
I love Joy Division's Colony, especially its riff. And Memo From Turner is a wonderfully menacing, swaggering number by Mick Jagger, from the 1970 Performance soundtrack, with way-cool slidework from one Ry Cooder! :-)
Good to see someone else dragging out the more obscure Stones tracks. Love the last two tracks. Hope to get a listen.
This looks fantastic, as usual, Rob. Sometimes the mixes that we get done the quickest can be the most satisfying ones, that's for sure. That 6-11 stretch looks pretty fuckin' great to me.
good to see some DNA in here... gotta find out if that Sic Alps is so worthy of its praise
So Rob Conroy I can almost hear it. That's a good thing.
You're on a roll! I think this my be better than your last mixed genre and that one is damn good.
Sometimes the gods of mixing just move you in the right direction in no time! Keep 'em coming.
Ohhhh the Replacements! Good choices.
Glad to see things up and running, and clocking in under two hours.
Under two hours, impressive. Looks really awesome to boot.
Brilliant. DNA -> Bad Brains and Coltrane -> Replacements especially.
