Comment:
This is my two-disc re-fashioning of what was once a single-disc New Order mix from five years ago. I think I'm finally coming around on the greatness of these folks, although, to me, they will never measure up to Joy Division (who happen to be one of my twenty or twenty-five favorite bands of all time). That said, this could easily have been three discs with the amount of tracks that I had to cut, mostly due to the length of their songs plus the fact that once one gets through the ten to twenty trem*ndous songs that they've recorded, there's a ton of very-good-to-great material that's all of pretty much the exact same level of quality (thus making specific tracks hard to cut). Incidentally, this was originally going to cover their entire career, but after the above-referenced issue, I decided to stop with the conclusion of their first run in 1993 (despite the fact that 2001's Get Ready is a very, very good album and 2004's Waiting for the Sirens' call has its moments). Here are most of the last tracks cut, in the order that I can remember them: "Slow Jam," "Crystal," "Broken Promise," "Way of Life," "Touched by the Hand of God," "World," "State of the Nation," "Avalanche," "60 Miles an Hour," "Murder," "Spooky," "Everyone Everywhere," and "Shellshock."Feedback:
I only know them superficially, not necessarily my cup o' tea, but great nonetheless.
i THINK THEY MADE ABOUT 3 GREAT ALBUMA AND A LOT OF GREAT SINGLES, BUT SOMEDAYS THEY FEELL A LITTLE OLD IF YOU KNOW WHAT i MEAN
errr... cough cough... is there a Pet Shop Boys single artist mix lurking around the corner?
Saw them live about two years ago and they did a version of Love Will Tear Us Apart which was just so bad. Shouting "Come on" during the chorus completely devalued the song. They seemed to have no regard for the meaning of it. Quite bizarre. Kathryn likes them more than I do. I love the first 3 tracks, Temptation and 1963 but Joy Division was far superior. Oh and Blue Monday is a song I never need hear again. Is there a Pet Shop Boys mix around the corner? Kathryn would love that.
Well, I agree completely on the JD vs NO... this looks interesting.
i'm on the same wagon as you - joy division are one of my 20-30 all-time favorite bands, however i like these guys quite a bit - one of my very favorite "dance" oriented bands, anyhow, & their singles were pretty faultless
