Comment:

Pretty self-explanatory, I think. My favorite 80 minutes (all pulled from their first five studio albums) by a band that's overrated by lunkheads and a specific type of record geek while simultaneously being underrated by the vast majority of record-geek types. They were great enough to inspire D. Boon and Mike Watt, so they're great enough to warrant a single-artist mix from yours truly. Last tracks cut (there were actually quite a few): "Astronomy" and "Harvester of Eyes."

Sweet, dude. I grew up on a steady diet of BOC (among others). This looks pretty fucking great to me. Though I do have a soft spot for "Joan Crawford".

I agree! I even like (some) of the really ridiculous later years.

My uncle Kevin (who reminds most of us of Cousin Eddie) is really into BOC, but then he was one of the last to put down the pipe. Well, you already mentioned lunkheads. I always liked the cowbell and would like to dig deeper, though. Maybe I'll trade Uncle Kev a case of Griesedieck for some vinyl rips.

They were in front of REO Speedwagon here last year. Buck/Donald now looks like Phil Collins' only very slightly younger brother. I guess I'd have to be under the lunkhead heading, as I always was fond of these guys, and most of my faves are well represented... I do like the first live elpee, On Your Feet Or On Your Knees... Godzilla is IMHO the ONLY track to finish a BOC mix with.

...sorry, meant to say... Godzilla is the only track with which to finish a BOC mix.

years ago I used to listen to their first LP a lot, as it seemed pretty great to me... now I hardly listen to them, such a pity

my uncle's former band used to tour with these guys all the time, & my dad was their roadie, so i've been hearing stories about partying with blue oyster cult for years now - so i've definitely got a sentimental attachment to this stuff

haha i'm with anthony. i can't say much about the music cause i'm not a huge fan, but they played in these parts earlier this yeah and their backstage spread was impressive. after the show they left tons of food and alcohol and told us to take home whatever we wanted. SWEET!

I love when you put these mixes together that inspire me to pull something out I haven't listened to for awhile. Thank you!
