A Home Is Not A House
Comment:
Yet another mix made while sitting around home wishing my computer hadn't disintegrated this summer. This is not so much about a residing in a certain zip code but rather the feeling of home. I managed to put this together without including such songs as "Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home)" and "Take Me Home Country Roads." You can't use 'em all:) So, in my best Darth Pazuzu imitation, here are the notes ...1) Mike Thomas is one of the better Aussie songwriters. Starting a new life in a new home.
2) Home is much more than simply the possessions around you.
3) What a great line! "With two cats in the yard, life used to be so hard ... now everything is easy 'cause of you."
4) Tearing down lives and starting all over again. Has particular relevance to yours truly.
5) None of us want to call this kind of house "home."
6) "The pump don't work cause the vandals took the handles."
7) A song by this band was inevit*ble. But instead of "Better Be Home Soon" I went for the experience of moving and taking the feelings you have wherever you wind up.
8) The guy goes home because of some very nice correspondence.
9) You can have a house but at what price? Ask your loan officer.
10) The kings of Ska recall houses and families.
11) Vanessa loses her virginity as white houses fade from memory.
12) You never know what you've missed on the road not taken.
13) The blue canary representing a night light for your soul, at least that's what I think it means. Catchy as hell, though.
14) Make sure that nightlight doesn't have any frayed wires. Excellent safety tips from the band who probably wrote more songs about houses than any other.
The quiz concerns one of the bands who lost a member to suicide. That would be ...? A copy of the mix with artwork to the person with the answer.

Feedback:
This mix looks fantastic. I wish I was better at your quizzes :oP
Feels as if we live in The House at Pooh Corner.
You're certainly making up for lost time my frie*nd.
Great mix,
stunning artwork.
Crowded House drummer Paul Hester sadly took his own life 3 years ago.

Well, the recession has got so bad I believe Paul Young has had his Hat re-posessed. Great mix as usual, great cover art as always..

I always liked Crowded House and Supertramp as well as nearly every other artist here. It is good to have the Rabbit back.
J-Dark has the winning answer. Congrats to my frie*nd and alt-dj cohort.
5-8 are just grand, as are your closing two. And very nice cover art, as usual!

What a comeback indeed. Loving your output!
Welcome back, avocado rabbit! You've been sorely missed, man.
Of the four mixes you've posted most recently, this one's got the most stuff I'm familiar with. I love the Bob Dylan track, especially! :-)
