Comment:

Well, it's a triple elimination this time around:
94. Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon (1973)
95. Aerosmith - Toys In The Attic (1975)
96. Queen - Jazz (1978)

The Hunter (X 3) / Snake Ch-armer (X 3) - In answer to what is perhaps an obvious question...No, folks! You are not seeing triple!! :-) You remember that old blues song The Hunter by Albert King? Well, the Dokken song has zilch to do with it beyond the title, but of course the Free song is a cover version. And even though the Danzig track is credited as a band original, it's basically a thinly disguised rewrite of the Albert King original! (By the way, Led Zeppelin fans will of course know that How Many More Times directly quotes the lyrics from King's The Hunter.) And with regard to our other trio of identically-titled tracks, the Nugent song is about a girl who's a "snake-ch-armer" (heh-heh-heh), but the Rainbow and RATM numbers are more cautionary warnings about "snake-ch-armers" (the RATM song of course exten-ding the meaning into a reference to capitalist ideology).

This Means War < Metal Militia < Death Trip - From the titles on down, the last three tracks on Disc #1 probably make up the most violent conclusion to any single disc in my entire mixology! Well...if you're gonna go out, don't just go out with a bang...go out with three very, very LOUD bangs!! [*wink*]

Smokestack Lightning - Yes, that is Chris Cornell and Soundgarden covering Howlin' Wolf!

Any Colour You Like < Red House - Well, the only track left from Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon which I haven't yet used is this one, and it was quite a challenge finding somewhere to place it, considering that it's less a proper individual musical number than a transitional piece! Looking back, I'm not really even all that satisfied with how Disc #2 turned out (at least in terms of the running order), but I think that if anything helps to justify the final result, it's the fact that Any Colour You Like is followed by Red House! (And once again, it's one of those extremely unlikely seren-dipitous occurences that I didn't even plan for!) And let's face it, there are probably a lot of guys out there who when asked to pick "any colour you like" would probably pick the color of their (former?) girlfrien-d's house over yonder!

Not all fri*ndships can last, but good music is eternal.

Kudos for closing out the first mix with "Death Trip."
