Comment:
I realize that B & S mixes are a dime a dozen around here, yet I still decided to submit (what I think is) my fourth revision of my double-disc B & S set, this time (as per my new practice) moving chronologically through both discs as opposed to the individual discs. My interest in them has waxed and waned over the years, still peaking with my discovery of If You're Feeling Sinister in '97, then diminishing during the Fold Your Hands, Child.../Storytelling period, then rising again with the absolutely gorgeous Fans Only DVD and the career-redefining Dear Catastrophe Waitress album, and now peaking once more with the release of their stellar BBC Sessions. There were a few tracks cut, which included "Act of the Apostle II," "We Rule the School," "The Model," "The Chalet Lines," "The Blues Are Still Blue," "Seymour Stein," "I Fought in a War," and "Lord Anthony."Feedback:
Compelled to venture on aotm and comment here Rob... absolutely my favourite group of all time, and though this could have been at least another disc long, it contains many of my favourites. I get goosebumps just thinking about these songs...
great band
as a former middle distance runner, i can appreciate the song about the lonliness of middle distance running. stars of track and field forever.
cheers.
cheers.
Oh okay. Belle And Sebastian is my favorite favorite band of all time. Is there any way I can get a copy of this?
it's hard to go wrong with one of these mixes, but even so, i'd say you did a bang-up job. respect!
I still remember the first time I heard "Lazy Line Painter Jane" at a park in England in 1999. One of my favourite songs. I use to obsessed with the band for a little while but I don't listen to them too much now, although I did pick up the BBC sessions CD and loved it. Like Jake said, you could easily include another disc for this band. You picked out most of favourites Rob. Nice compilation.
What the fuck is this!? These guys suck ass! Just kidding. Of course I'm paraphrasing Jack Black's c haracter in High Fidelity. Four revisions? Well I guess that's what it takes to capture their brilliant career. So many fabulous songs represented here. I agree, the BBC collection is stellar, and finally gives us a chance to hear good quality versions of previously unreleased songs like My Girl's Got Miraculous Technique and The Magic of a Kind Word.
I just want something I can ignore.
