Comment:

What you have here is the first of four mixes as a result of a project which called for various AotM mixers to se_nd me a Christmas card in the form of a song. After receiving their songs, I replied with a song to them. The songs alte_rnate through four volumes as many from the community responded to the call. To all who participated and to others in the AotM community, I say thanks for mixing and sharing your ideas.

I had two albums in mind that I wanted to definitely use in this project. Well, Kathy (kmbone) was the first person to respond, and she sel_ected a song from one of them - Bruce Cockburn's wonderful Christmas album. Then retro joe sent me one from the cutting room floor of his own Christmas mix (and it is a terrific choice). And the songs continued to pour in from all corners of the globe. It was really quite thrilling to receive them all along with the warm thoughts from each mixer.

In the words of the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, "I heard the bells on Christmas Day, their old familiar carols play, and wild and sweet the word repeat of peace on earth, good-will to men!" And to that I can only add, Amen.

There is a link to the mix above. Three more volumes will follow in the days leading up to Christmas. Best wishes to all.

I feel honored to have been the first respondent. And that somebody else picked a song from my other favorite Christmas album (Low's Christmas EP)! I too am looking forward to the other three volumes.

Merry Christmas Mr Rabbit. A big thank you for doing this and bringing the whole AotM community together. Hope you got my choice, my second choice would've been that fantastic 'Low' choice..

Happy Xmas Dean! Here's to our continued mixing!

That Garcia / Grisman track has leaped straight onto my best thing heard this year with a bullet. The classic Coltrane quartet reincarnated as a hippie acoustic string band! Fan -blinking-tastic! My admiration for Garcia has been growing exponentially this year after picking up a c_harity shop copy of Old & In The Way and this lifts it up an extra level. As for Grisman... lets just say he' sent me back to those Earth Opera albums with new ears.
Brilliant music!
