Comment:
sons of suburbia . . . mixed 23 january 1999 . . . in response to a request for a trade: "some songs i'd especially like on my mix if you got 'em... so what'cha want-beastie boys...trigger hippie-morcheeba...never said-liz phair...anything from the pharcyde...anything else you think would fit...just no marilyn manson, okay?...no other specifics i can think of...i like anything from the 4AD label. anything unusual...anything from bands in your area." - so, in addition to the requests i found that bettie serveert, the pixies, the breeders, belly, dead can dance, the the and the thievery corporation are all on the 4ad label. the amazing crapface idiot and a.t.m. are both from my town of blacksburg, virginia. hank mohaski is another d.i.y. music man. fannycracker is from northern va - where i originally hail from. from there i compiled some hard to find stuff - bands from revelevation records - supertouch, burn and inside out (zach de la rocha's old band), b-sides and outtakes by nirvana, pearl jam and beck - compilation tracks by the roots and the pharcyde - well you must get the point . . . the title refers both to the cover photo, a closeup of my black moor goldfish, jesus (hey-zeus), digging for food in the bottom of the tank - and from the fact that d.i.y.ers and many of these bands feed (if at all) from the bottom of the music industry . . . get up, stand up!! . . . 90 minutes of peace, love, freedom & delight - enjoy suburban style
