I've posted a fews mixes of Motown material and felt it was about time that Memphis was represented via the great body of work presented by the STAX label. The style is funkier and less mainstream, but there are plenty of gems to be found.

I once listened through that whole box set and it is chock full of gems. You are right, it is funkier and less mainstream than the Motown of that era.

I heard Wilson Pickett cover Mr Pitiful once many years ago, and his band had great horns. Stax/Volt music is top notch.
