One Hit Wonders Of 1970
Comment:
Wanted to use the longer version of the first track but needed to make room so all would fit on a CD. Two years that really stand out when it comes to One Hit Wonders is 1970 and 1971 (I hope to do a companion mix for the later year some time soon). Some tunes left on the cutting room floor were Eddie Holman's Hey There Lonely Girl, Miguel Rios' Song of Joy, Tee Set's Ma Belle Amie (not that it is bad, just doesn't seem to mix with anything), Teegarden and Van Winkle's God, Love, and Rock & Roll, and Jeffersons' Baby Take Me In Your Arms (the last two were planned for the en_d of the mix but didn't have room). And one I realized afterwards that I'd forgotten about was Bobby Bloom's Montego Bay.
Feedback:
Amazing how some of these stick in your mind a few decades later. Flawless research as usual, Joe.
Oh, MY, how I've aged! Many happy memories ... like I probably won't have to download this, just pull it together from my own library of pop yummy nuggets...
Are these guilty pleasures or rediscovered treasures? Looks like you have enough to make a second mix when the urge strikes. Bravo, Joe!
Good mix all arond but you really got rolling with the last four tracks. Actually I didn't even know PG&E had a hit. I've got their records on vinyl but never imagined they got any top forty airplay.
I'm with Dean on the last four, always very informative, Joe!
I've got that Miguel Rios LP, it's crazy. also have Frijid Pink and Crow, which I like quite a bit. new favorites here are Mashmakhan, Crabby Appleton and Mungo Jerry tunes. and you know I love this sort of trivia, Joe. looking forward to the set from 1971!
