Comment:
Don DeLillo's fine novel focuses on Lee Harvey Oswald and a speculative analysis of the events surrounding the assassination of JFK. In DeLillo's version, the assassination is inten ded to fail, the plot instigated by former CIA operatives in an attempt to draw the United States into a war with Cuba. The title comes from Oswald's own astrological birth sign, with the scales symbolizing the outside forces of history weighing in on the fate of all.The book ble nds historical fact with fictional supposition in a very clever manner, and appears to be a very plausible explanation for this turning point in the USA's history. The author's note at the en d of the book dispels this notion, however, when he denies any attempt to provide factual answers to any questions raised by the assassination. That said, it is a terrific story and highly readable compared to some of the author's more difficult works.
Feedback:
I love literary (or cinematic) themed mixes... the artwork is staggering, as always
Brilliant. Definitely not the kind of book I'd normally pick up, now I might.
Brilliant, indeed! Books and music are two of my favorite things, so when they're put together it's pure harmony.
I'm excited to read this book now. Thanks!

Hmmm.... Looks like an interesting book and mix. Great Social Distortion pick.
Looks great. I'll give it a listen. If you like JFK books, I highly recomme nd Oswald's Tale by Norman Mailer. He makes a highly plausible case about who was behind JFK's and Oswald's deaths. Also, good Midnight Oil track. Their later stuff seems to be too often overlooked.
I've been interested in reading DeLillo ever since I worked on a production of "The Day Room." When I finally read "White Noise" a couple of years ago, I had the hardest time with it - I couldn't really figure out what it was about and what it was supposed to mean, and I just found it bizarre. It was, however, a lot more readable that many other books I've had trouble with. If this soundtrack accurately reflects the tone of "Libra," it's a book I'll love. Time to hit Goodwill and the used book stores.
You're out on your own when it comes to these 'imagined soundtracks'
I'll be seeking out the DeLillo book too.

After listening to this i really like that Social Distortion track.Well done!I can't think of a better way to spe nd my time.Listening to one of your new mixes.
Sort of creepy that there is still money to be made from books about the JFK assassination after all these years. But the only profit here is that we can all enjoy the great music you put to the story! Thank you, as always, for a superlative mix.
Libra was written more than 20 years ago, but Nancy has a point. People still make money over the assassination the same as they do with MLK and others. I hope we never have to live through another one.
i really enjoyed this book, and this mix looks like a great companion piece.
Hey, I guess I need to be on here more often, you didn't let me know this was posted, sorry. Looking forward to listening to this later.
This looks great! I forgot how much I dig that "3 Libras" track.
mmmmm.... soundtrack for book good.
Nice idea, Mr. Rabbit. My favorite songs on this were the Neko Case, Brenton Woods and Band of Bees picks.
Cool idea for a mix. I've read a few of his books... White Noise, Underworld, Mao II, The Body Artist but somehow missed Libra. Read Falling Man recently. A very intense 9/11 novel. Great collection of songs by the way.
This definitely looks intriguing. You certainly come up with interesting themes for your mixes! :) My personal favorite is APC's 3 Libras.
