One Hit Wonders of 1971
Comment:
This is the second part of a pair of One Hit Wonder compilations (the first was for 1970). There were a few other songs I could have used (like Mr. Big Stuff by Jean Knight, Desiderado by Les Crane, What the World Needs Now is Love by Tom Clay, I Never Promised You a Rose Garden by Lynn Anderson, and One Toke Over the Line by Brewer & Shipley) but skipped those because I thought that they'd been played enough. A few others that were left on the cutting room floor were Stay Awhile by The Bells, 1900 Yesterday by Liz Damon's Orient Express, and Toast & Marmalade for Tea by Tin Tin (if anybody would like to add any of those tunes to the mix they are welcome to try working them in since there is over 9 minutes remaining to fill a CD). Hope you like and, Have a Nice Day!
Feedback:
I've always had a fascination with one-hit wonders...love these mixes, Joe.
And Have A Nice Decade! Sweet, all around.
I've always been curious as to whether these people were one-hit wonders because they made you wonder why they didn't make more hits, or was it because you wondered how they had even one hit.
Wow... this one shook the dust from my musical rafters. Some memorable, some forget able... but fun to recollect!
Another great blast from the past! Remember some radio stations banning DOA because it was too graphic?
Another hot set. Favorites here were Undisputed Truth, that crazy Bloodrock song, Dave & Ansell Collins, Free Movement, Daddy Dewdrop, The Nite-Liters... that Sammi Smith track was best of all. loved the Chase song too, but to be honest, it didn't sound very instrumental to me. :)
