Comment:
Another bunch of eliminations:
147. Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy (1976) (#151 - 2/7/09)
148. Television - Marquee Moon (1977) (#151 - 2/7/09)
149. Screaming Trees - Ocean Of Confusion: Songs Of Screaming Trees 1990-1996 [compilation] (2005) (#151 - 2/7/09)
150. MC5 - Back In The USA (1970) (#151 - 2/7/09)
Hammerdown < Hammer Back - Quoth the BOC: "Keep the hammer back / Don't keep the safety on!" You know me, always having a bit of fun at Terrible Ted's expense (ha, ha, ha)!
Pressing On < If You Want It < (Don't Need) Religion - I'm all in favor of spiritual uplift, and Dylan's great gospel anthem Pressing On - here delivered by John Doe - definitely has that, as does the similarly gospel-themed Lenny Kravitz number which follows. But...having said that, you need somebody like Lemmy to bring things back down to earth, keep it real, strip away the piousness and blast away the dogma! [*wink*]
Solitary Shell - A wonderful little excerpt from Dream Theater's Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence, an almost poppy number whose rhythm bears more than a passing resemblance to Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill (and also has a keyboard lick bearing more than a passing resemblance to Rick Wakeman's on Yes' And You And I)!
Daydream - The closing number from the Smashing Pumpkins' debut album Gish, with lead vocal by bassist D'arcy. However, I omitted the unlisted "I'm Going Crazy" snippet at the very en-d, because I'm saving that for the conclusion of my next mix! :)
