Rhythm & Blues in 1947-1949, Part 1
Comment:
Rockin' Jim, a frie_nd of mine who has his own program on the radio Monday nights (on KPOO) and who shared his last day at the San Francisco Chronicle Newspaper with myself, was born in 1947. Using Joel Whitburn's recordresearch.com website, I got a list of all R&B songs from 1947-1949. For the first year in that range, the R&B ch_arts weren't very extensive (1947 had about 44 songs listed and 1948 & '49 had 147 and 140 songs respectively). I wanted to do a mix of just 1947, but because of the limited list came up with only eleven songs for that year that I wanted to use. By expanding the mix to three years, I was able to fill two CDs with songs from that period for that type of music that I enjoyed (and I hope that you will too!).Feedback:
The remaining tracks for this part of the mix are:23. Nellie Lutcher And Her Rhythm - Hurry On Down (1947 #2)24. Louis Jordan And His Tympany Five - Daddy_O (1948 #7)25. Wynonie Harris - Good Rockin' Tonight (1948 #1)26. Marie Knight - Gospel Train (1949 #9)27. The Ravens - Ol' Man River (1948 #10)28. Annie Laurie with Paul Gayten - Since I Fell For You (1947 #3)29. Tampa Red - When Things Go Wrong With You (1949 #9)
A winner Joe. Looking forward to Part 2.
As good as it gets, as usual.
