Comment:
Japanese rock gardens, often called "Zen Gardens," were influenced mainly by Zen Buddhism and can be found at Zen temples of meditation. Each is a unique, living work of art, ever changing, never the same and never finished. Surely a metaphor for the universe and life cycles among other things. When fritz1 and I undertook the making of this mix, it was in the spirit of designing a rock garden. It is our second mix together, though the first to be posted as of yet. We are presently working on a 4th installment. Like the karesansui (rock gardens) this mix goes through many cycles before resolving with a strange folk tune by Tim Buckley followed by a traditional Chinese song by a group of musicians from Inner Mongolia. The mix only comes to you in download as one long track as it is inten~ded to be heard at one sitting.
The rock gardens can be extremely abstract and can represent mind-scapes as well. We like to think of this mix in similar terms.
For the quiz, name the musician who is related to pop/jazz star Norah Jones. A free copy (track marked) with artwork awaits the winner.
Feedback:
looking forward this one. Always quality from the Mutual Appreciation Society.
Anouska is her big sister. Beautiful playlist and art work, of course, but why no Japanese in this Zen Garden? [Nudge, wink!]
I listened to this last night. I found a very intriguing flow. I will be revisiting this garden soon. Nice to see Mojave 3 on any playlist.
The famous sitarist, Ravi Shankar, is her father.
Oops :). Didn't realize the idea was to find the musician on the mix that's related to Norah Jones!
I have listened to this a few times now and it is a very special piece of work. You both should be proud of creating such a wonderful soundscape. Definitely two hands clapping for this one.

Well done you too. I love the transition into the Latin vibe.
