Sweet Soul Music (The Best of RetroJoe's Picks) 1967-1971
Comment:
One song each from 1972 & 1973 also slipped into this mix. Looks like two of my favorite groups are the Staple Singers (pictured) and Gladys Knight and the Pips, since I used two songs by each of them in this mix.
Feedback:
As AWB sang, Music, Sweet Music, You're The Queen Of My Soul! Your queens of this mix are Gladys & Mavis, and they are royally magnificent. Thanks for the d/l!
Arthur Conley wasn't known for much more than the first track, but what a song that is. It was great fun listening to these old r&b chestnuts again.
MOTW! Thanks as usual for the annotations and the history.
Ahh man, goodness all over this mix.
Of course, your last one was my favorite till I took a look at this one. It is rare that I don't love every single song on one of your mixes.
Ahh.. too much good music! I definitely love this.
Fabulous mix of soul classics. Would love to offer a trade if you're up to it.
