Comment:

I started posting mixes at Art Of The Mix in September 2004. In February 2005, I posted two soulful mixes for the period of 1972-73 and then 1974-1976. I didn't re-explore that genre until July 2006, but have steadily built on that theme since then, with it lately dominating my mixes (even though I estimate that R&B really makes up more like 40% of what I like to listen to on a regular basis). I recently cre_ated a two CD set for Pop music and a two CD set of R&B music, both focusing on the best of my selec_tions for the 1967-72 period of time. I have yet to post my 2nd part of the Pop mixes, but I didn't have a problem finding enough material there, but did for the R&B, or just a bit. This mix has 14 songs that ch_arted as R&B, even though four that didn't were by black artists (and one that did, track 25, was by The Spencer Davis Group, although the other track, or 17, by the same group didn't make it onto the R&B ch_arts). Nine songs by eight groups were either non-black or nearly all white (comprising 35% of the mix) but what they had in common was that they were all soulful ren_ditions. Hope you enjoy this hybrid R&B mix as much as I did putting it together.

Joe, you bring back so many sweet memories with all your sweet soulful sounds! Thanks aren't enough for this, nor are five stars sufficient praise.

Always great to see Wilbert Harrison, now I know why I haven't dared put my soul mixes up yet!
