Comment:

This is yet another re-posting of an older mix, this one originally posted on May 28, 2008. And as stated before, the reason I'm re-posting is that a recent glitch "scrambled" the Cassette mixes on this site so that both sides got "mashed" together, and I'm prevented from re-submitting them via the Up-date feature because I'm being blocked by a word that isn't there! Sooooo...I've got to re-post completely! :-(

And here are my comments for my original posting of this mix on May 28, 2008! Remember, this is word-for-word what I had originally posted, so it's somewhat out-of-date, but I'm keeping it as it originally was for the sake of posterity!

"I have returned once more from the nether-regions, brothers and sisters, to offer you up another double-course of pizza pie!

Recently, I encountered a bit of a glitch during the recording process, and I had initially assumed that my dual-deck CD-recorder was at fault. But a guy at a local audio/video repair shop was skeptical and recommen-ded to me that I switch CD-R brands. So instead of using discs from the 10-pack of Sony CD-R's I had gotten at K-Mart really cheap for $6.99, I went out and got a 10-pack of blank Maxells for $13.99 (at a different store). And...voila!! They worked! I no longer hear any skipping or popping noises! Yeah, yeah, the Maxell 10-pack may have been twice as expensive as the Sony 10-pack, but I guess the old saying is true: You really do get what you pay for! So from this day forward, count me as a Maxell Man!

As far as this particular offering is concerned...well, no major earth-shattering changes, as you can plainly see! One big advantage of my little hiatus was that I had a lot more time to calculate and plot out exactly what songs I wanted, how long each particular track was, and exactly which tracks would fit within an 80-minute running time. So even though this is still pretty much my usual scatterbrained yet rockingly eclectic panorama (the second disc especially, teeter-tottering as it does between punk and prog), I'd like to think that all the little extra time and effort paid off!

Here are some of my more recent CD purchases from which you'll see a lot more tracks on future mixes:

Easy Rider soundtrack - 2-CD Deluxe Edition (1968)
Jeff Beck - Truth (1968)
Nazareth - Hair Of The Dog (1975) & Greatest Hits (1996)
Mike Oldfield - Elements: The Best Of Mike Oldfield (1994)
Pump Up The Volume soundtrack (1990)
Great Expectations soundtrack (1997)
Apocalyptica - Worlds Collide (2008)

Oh, by the way: I just came up with a really cool two-song closing sequence for some future mix disc! It may not be the next one, or even the one after that one, but someday...

Angelo Badalamenti (w / Jimmy Scott) - Sycamore Trees (from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me) (1992)
Nazareth - Please Don't Judas Me (1975)

And if anyone wants to beat me to the punch and use those two songs to close out one of their own mix discs, then by all means be my guest. Trust me on this one, it'll work like gangbusters! But just remember and give credit where it's due...[*wink*]"

"Haha, you just convinced me to drag out my Nazareth LPs. They've been sitting around for ages, and I don't think I've ever listened to either of them.

(Word to the wise: if there's a Big Lots in your area, you might be able to find some Maxell CD-Rs cheaper. Probably not exactly the same as the ones you're using, but it could be worth a look.)"
