Comment:
Well, I trust that the reasoning behind the sequencing of Tracks 10-24 which "make up" DISC #1 requires absolutely no explanation whatsoever! [*batting eyelashes*] It's called stockpiling, folks! (Ha, ha, ha!) (BONUS TRIVIA QUESTION: Can anyone explain how the Rolling Stones song fits into the equation - even if it's a very tenuous connection having nothing whatsoever to do with the song's lyrics??)Arriving UFO < Zero Zero UFO < Subterranean Homesick Alien < It Came Out Of The Sky - During one of my correspondences with avocado rabbit, I proposed collaborating with him on a mix disc with an alien/UFO theme. While the majority of what I proposed has already been used up on my earlier mixes (and of course you know I never repeat myself on my own mixes), the o-pening sequence of DISC #1 provides a good example of what I had in mind. I know avocado rabbit's already finished the mix, but for the life of me I honestly can't remember if he's posted it or not. Interesting how the first half of this particular mix started out as one thing...and en-ded up being something completely different (see previous comment)! :-)
Celestial The Queen < Mamma Mia - BOC and ABBA make for a strange pair, that's for sure. But it just so happens that the chords of the former's verse section are the exact same chords of the latter's bridge! :-)
Ghost Dance - An early BBC session from the Cult, this song is not a Patti Smith cover but actually dates from when the band was still known as the Death Cult (but not Southern Death Cult).
Helpless - Metallica covers their NWOBHM heroes Diamond Head!
The Drinking Song - The closing track from the lone album released by the Electric Angels, an early '90s L.A. band. They were pretty cool, kind of a mixture of Ian Hunter, Hanoi Rocks and The Replacements. Their guitarist/songwriter Ryan Roxie went on to play guitar for Alice Cooper's band.
Feedback:
Lovin' that BOC/ABBA sequence as well as that early Cult track.
Aaah, Be My Lover..one of the best Alice Cooper songs ever!
Actually, a lot of great songs on this mix.
