Comment:

A triple-elimination today:
The Police - Ghost In The Machine (1981) (#168 - 5/16/09)
Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds Of The Western World (1973) (#168 - 5/16/09)
The Rolling Stones - Goats Head Soup (1973) (#168 - 5/16/09)

Well, I might was well be honest and upfront about DISC #1: It really, truly is the proverbial dog's dinner! (Ha, ha, ha!) I mean, I like the songs on it, but overall I don't think it's my best bit of sequencing. I was just sort of looking through my list of songs that I had "back-burnered" for a long time and just kind of stitched together DISC #1 based on what I had - it's really that simple! And yes, I know that it is indeed pretty heavy on the "hairy/schlocky" side of the '80s hard rock/heavy metal spectrum, so if that's not your thing, I don't think you'll find this all that interesting! Although I will say that I think DISC #2 is probably a tad more well-balanced...

Leaving Here (X 3) - Not one, not two, but three covers of an old Motown chestnut from the pens of Holland, Dozier & Holland!

No Surprises < Cagey Cretins < Epic - Ladies, fish and gentlemen, let's give it up yet again for the Pazuzu Good Luck Trinity: Radiohead...Blue Oyster Cult...Faith No More! :-) :-) :-)

(Make Me Do) Anything You Want - A nice, pleasant rock ballad from '80s Canadian rockers Helix (actually a cover of a little-known fellow Canadian outfit named A Foot In Coldwater)!

Lipan Conjuring < Lost Keys (Blame Hofmann) < Rosetta Stoned - Three in a row from the same outfit, yes it's true, but they're all part of a sequence on Tool's 10,000 Days release from '06.

Snakedriver / Until The End Of The World - I'd like to give a shout-out to a fellow mixer by the name of teris, a relative newcomer to AOTM, who's used both of these songs in another recent mix. I'm dedicating this to you! :-) :-) :-)

Great covers of Leaving Here, and I always enjoyed that Ratt cut.
