Turning Point (1959-1960)
Comment:
31. Connie Francis - Among My Souvenirs (1959 #7).32. Jim Reeves - He'll Have to Go (1960 #2).33. Jimmy Reed - Baby What You Want Me To Do (1960 #37).34. Nat "King" Cole - Time & The River (1960 #30).I was watching one of the better Twilight Zones from the early days and just happened to view the episode that was broadcast originally on 1/1/1960 (the name of that one was "What You Need"). When the date hit me, I felt I needed to do a mix for that point in time (I had done a similar mix for the turning point of 1969-1970 before). Most of the songs here peaked in 1960 (there are nine that peaked in 1959), but they all were playing at some point in the period from mid November, 1959 to mid February, 1960. Songs that didn't make it into the mix were: Joey's Song by Bill Haley, Smokie-Part 2 by Bill Black Combo, Baby (You've Got What it Takes) by Brook Benton & Dinah Washington, Let it Rock by Chuck Berry, Sixteen Reasons by Connie Stevens, Danny Boy and Lonely Blue Boy by Conway Twitty, How About That by Dee Clark, Not One Minute More by Della Reese, Bonnie Came Back by Duane Eddy, Time After Time by Frankie Ford, Just Come Home by Hugo & Luigi, The Happy Muleteer by Ivo Robic, Amapola by Jacky Noguez Orchestra, Cry Me A River by Janice Harper, Primrose Lane by Jerry Wallace, Beatnik Fly and Reveilee Rock by Johnny & The Hurricanes, Mumblin' Mosie by Johnny Otis, Don't Let the Sun Catch You Cryin' by Ray Ch_arles, Always by Sammy Turner, Smooth Operator by Sarah Vaughan, Too Much Tequila by The Champs, Dance With Me by The Drifters, The Enchanted Sea by The Islanders, Darling Lorraine by The Knockouts, Forever by The Little Dippers, and Harbor Lights by The Platters.Feedback:
